If you have followed me at all for the last few weeks, then you would have noticed I’ve been absent. It isn’t because I don’t want to continue this blog. The reason for my absence is winter, specifically, the flu. (I know, sucks.)
We are a family of six and when one of us gets sick it is extremely hard to avoid passing it on to the next person. It started with my oldest who came home feeling sick after school and then proceeded to get fevers, headaches, and full blown stuffy nose, eyes, throat. Yeah, it was terrible.
I tried my best to make her feel better while also overdosing on vitamin C and whatever immune system boost I could find. She was quarantined in her room to keep her away from the children. There were daily bleach scrubbings of the doors and surfaces, but alas, it was to no avail. One by one the soldiers started falling.
First, it was Jacob, he woke up with a fever and sore throat. His flu lasted a few days before my husband caught it, then one of the twins, and then me and then the last twin. Overall, it was almost three weeks of flu in our house.
A big thank you to grandma who took the kiddos that were feeling better so we could rest a bit.
So you would think, “That’s great Luma, you’re getting back to work now right?” Um, not quite. We got about a week of respite before one of the twins woke up with a runny nose, and now all four of the kiddos have a cold.
Paul and I have been spared so far but who knows for how long. C’est la vie of having multiple children. I’m not complaining, just trying to get my head above water. Hopefully, we can get back to normal soon and I can have my regular schedule back so I can start writing. In the mean time, send me ALL the cold medicine. 🙁
